Luke Donald Tastes Victory at the Madrid Masters
Mizuno Brand Ambassador Luke Donald bounced back from his Wentworth disappointment with a masterful performance at the European Tour's Madrid Masters. Donald relied on his Grain Flow Forged MP-62 irons, MP T-10 wedges and Hybrid CLK to secure the victory, lifting him from 13th to ninth in the Official World Golf Rankings.
Donald battled Welshman Rhys Davies throughout the last round. Tied with three holes to play, the 32 year old Donald hit a 252 yard hybrid to within 12 feet on the long 16th, and then calmly rolled in the putt for his third eagle of the week.
"It was my eagle on the 16th that did it for me. I hit my Mizuno Hybrid CLK, 17 degree. I had 231 yards to the front; the flag was on 21 yards, so that's 252 yards. They reckon I'm a short hitter! I'd made two eagles on the first day with the same club, so I have lot to thank it for" said Donald.
"I was 12-under for the par-fives for the week. That's because I'm a long hitter! It's happiness as well as relief and it opens up lots of doors now. I'm up to fourth in the Ryder Cup world points list and back in the world rankings top 10."
“CONGRATULATIONS LUKE”
